Catching Up!
I am ashamed for not posting Ian's Pinewood Derby adventure. It truly is a Cub Scout family project. I am responsible for helping Ian to get a design for his "racer" and helping him cut it out. His mother then takes over with helping him paint and finish the design. This is his third Pinewood Derby and he has won Best of Show twice and runner-up once. Unfortunately, they never go very fast so he has never done better than 3rd Place, but we'll take that. As "handy" as I am, I'm just glad he has a car out there. The fact that he wins something is a lagniappe. He has done well in Cub Scouts. When I was his age, there were not a lot of choices of activities for 9 year olds. Now, he is busy all the time, but he has enjoyed Scouting.
Today was the Little Rock Marathon and Ian participated in the Kids Race. They have to run 25 miles before today and then run the last mile around the Arkansas State Capitol. It was fun and Ian did well again this year. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) Ian is not very competitive. He takes that from me, certainly not his Momma. He can make very good time when he's not distracted, but had more fun visiting along the way. I guess that's OK because he certainly had a good time.
You can see Flat Stanley in the picture with Ian. We have taken Flat Stanley everywhere but never remember to take photos. We are going to see the Sweet Potato Queens in their St. Patrick's Day Parade next week, but we already have a picture of Ian and Flat Stanley with Jill Conner Brown. I'm still not sure we can include that one in his school poster. Fortunately, his Aunt Beckie took Flat Stanley all over Europe this Fall so he has some great pictures. What would we do without all of Ian's Aunts and Uncles. It really does take a village.

I have one photo of him riding beside Vivian on a boat I think it is. I;m glad you finally udated! I was excited to see that pine wood derby car. Tim and Joe(y) did quite a few of those, too, but they did everything,..I didn't stick my nose in it at all. I remember one year they had one painted like a bumble bee. Great good , Ian, in the Pine Wood Derby and the 25 mile race! You're a better man that me! Love you and your mom and dad!
